Little Norton Mill is the perfect choice for a relaxing holiday. The delightful collection of cottages lies in a sheltered and peaceful valley beside a tree-lined mill pond at the foot of Ham Hill - an iron age hill-fort and country park with outstanding views and many excellent walks. The eight cottages are set in three acres of superbly landscaped gardens, with ornamental ponds, marsh gardens, a meadow and an orchard.
There is a host of rare and interesting trees, shrubs
and plants in these lovely grounds (after some of which the cottages are named); and the
area around the mill pond forms a well planned habitat for a variety of waterfowl. Little
Norton is especially well placed for exploring an area rich in historical interest,
natural attractions, fascinating country houses and beautiful gardens.
Within a ten mile radius of the mill are Montacute House, Worldwide Butterflies, Lullingstone Silk Farm, and Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park. Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum has a large collection of historic naval aircraft, an early Concorde and many interesting exhibits telling the story of the fleet air arm of the Royal Navy. Barrington Court is a Tudor mansion now used as an antiques showroom - and a short drive takes you to the fabulous gardens at Clapton Court and Sherborne's famous castle.
Further afield are the cathedral cities of Exeter and Bath whose
elegant Georgian streets and stylish shops overlay fascinating roman remains. Perhaps most
importantly of all, the majority of this superb touring country can be explored on quiet
minor roads, offering splendid scenic views at almost every turn.
The cottages and apartments at Little Norton are well designed,
beautifully appointed and very comfortable.
Four of the properties - Acer, Erica, Paeonia and Pieris , have been
created by converting with great care, the old barn beside the mill house
The larger cottages - Magnolia, Wallow, Lilac and Tamarisk - have
been constructed in natural ham stone to reflect the style and proportions of a
traditional mill store building.
All the properties at Little Norton Mill enjoy shared use of the splendid grounds, which
have been further enhanced by the planting of trees and shrubs in the one and a half acre
meadow.
Visitors are welcome to wander and relax here, as well as in the formal garden. There is a
shared laundry room with two automatic washing machines and tumble dryers. Superb cottages
equipped to high standards throughout, pleasant grounds and an excellent touring area -
all these attributes make Little Norton Mill the ideal choice for a Somerset holiday.
There is ample parking, a shop, post office and a pub within 1 mile.
All properties have colour TV and lie within 4 acres of grounds and landscaped garden. A
nearby hard tennis court is available by arrangement. The properties share a laundry room
with auto washing machine and tumble dryers and there is a shared payphone. Duvets with
linen and towels are provided.
