We sometimes interpret the normal symptoms of anxiety as a physical illness – so we interpret difficulty swallowing and a ‘lump in the throat’, or butterflies in the stomach as cancer, lack of arousal and impotence, jelly legs, light headedness and numbness as a potential stroke, palpitations as a developing heart attack – all of which serves to makes EVEN MORE nervous!
